Papaderos - Alexandros Papaderos, co-founder and president of the Orthodox Academy of Crete (Germany 1991)
About this film
Lifelines in the 20th century: A profie from 1991 on Alexandros Papaderos, the co-founder and president of the Orthodox Academy of Crete. As a child Papaderos had to suffer hard during WW2 from German occupation of Crete from Nazi-Germany soldiers. During his school education he discovered a completely different view on Germany: Germany, a culture of philosophers and poets. This particular contrast between his own experiences and his learned knowledge about German history brought him to university studies in Germany in post war West-Germany. Later he convinced the Orthodox Church of Crete to establish a church-run academy. Under his presidency the Orthodox Academy of Crete was established as a center for research, education and communication.
