OTR 50 - Mostly Half-Hours One each of some of the most popular half-hour (or less) shows -- drama, comedy, detective, sci-fi, horror, western, non-fiction, and variety -- from the 1930's to the 1950's. If you're new to old-time radio, you'll find that little has changed in television and film. Dumb blondes like My Friend Irma still exist on shows like Two Broke Girls; the cops of the Law & Order franchise are equivalent to Phillip Marlowe, Candy Matson, and Dragnet; the satire of Fred Allen, The Goons, Bob & Ray, and Groucho Marx influenced Saturday Night Live; Modern Family and The Middle wouldn't exist without Father Knows Best, Mayor of the Town, Our Miss Brooks, and Ozzie and Harriet; and spooky stories like those on Inner Sanctum, Lights Out! and Nightfall still have the power to creep you out, like The Conjuring flicks. The one thing you won't hear is profanity of the Seven Deadly Words variety, so these are generally safe for family listening. Total download: Approx 250 MB. Sound quality varies.
