An eccentric American scientist (Stewart) is convinced the design of a new Britiah airliner is fatally flawed. Two women (Dietrich & Johns) believe him, but the powers that be think he's a fool. Suspenseful, intelligent screenplay. Solid cast and production. Adapted from a novel by ex-aeronautical engineer Nevil Shute. (a.k.a. "No Highway") POST SCRIPT: This 1951 film and the 1948 novel on which it was based proved to be tragically prophetic, when the design defect they mentioned caused the loss of two de Havilland Comet airliners in 1954.
