National Archives description: "1) MS Small boat sets out aircraft mooring buoys in water off Iwo Jima. 2) CU LCVP bow sticks out of water, stern sunk. 3) MS Bombardment of Mt. Suribachi. 4) MS-Pan Shoreline of Iwo Jima, many landing ships and LSTs seen. 5) MS Landing craft, LCMs, LCTs go toward shore. 6) MS-LS-Pan Invasion fleet, auxiliary ships, APA and cargo ship seen. 7) MS-Pan Invasion fleet, landing vehicles seen, LCVPs, LCTs and USS California [SIC?] in background bombards beach. 8) HS LVT2A, landing vehicle and many LVTs go toward shore, phosphorous shells bursting on beach in background. 9) MS Flag hoist at yardarm. 10) MS PBY under tow by a DMS. 11) MS Small seaplane tender in foreground."
