National Archives description "1) CU SS submerging; evidently taken from conning tower. showing deck gun and bow. 2) LS Fleet at anchorage, probably at Ulithi or Manus Harbor, with PBY flying in FG. 3) AV CVEs and SSs putting out to sea. SV. 4) CU SBD with two others in FG flying in formation. 5) CU SBDs in echelon, side angle. 6) CU TBFs in group turning over engines. National Archives Identifier: 76499 "Out Takes And Supplements From Distinguished Service MN-3690" This is probably outtakes from the 1944 Navy film "For Distinguished Service," a film about petroleum and the war effort, created by the Industrial Incentive Division, United States Navy & shown at war plants in the USA.
