National Archives description: "1) LS USS BENNINGTON, forward part of flight deck damaged by typhoon [June 4-5, off Okinawa], beam view. 2) LS USS BENNINGTON, bow-on view. 3) MS Plane handlers righting a TBM blown over during typhoon on the USS HORNET. 4) LS USS BENNINGTON fires 5" gun, & launches plane foward. 5) LS Planes warm up on forward up end of USS HORNET"S flight deck for take-offs aft as she backs down at 18 knots, spectators seated on island structure FG, HORNET's bow so damaged by typhoon that takes off forward were impossible. 6) LS-Pan F6Fs take off over fantail of USS HORNET as she backs down-SV, other ships in task force BG.
