CSI 1942 style, and an intriguing little crime drama that was ahead of its time, and had all the makings for the start of a second feature film series that could have happened but didn't. Finally in 1999 CBS television picked up the idea, and the rest is history. PRODUCTION NOTE; Fred Zinnemann's directorial debut. CAST NOTE: Ava Gardner appears briefly as a car hop. It was her fifth uncredited feature film role. No one can say she didn't pay her dues.
