About this film

"Filmers Almanac TV PSA" by Owen O'Toole. This is the 3rd of a series of uploads of the movie works of Owen O'Toole brought to you by the tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE aRCHIVE. One of my favorite projects of Owen's & one of my favorite collaborative projects of anyone's is the "Filmers Almanac". In 1986, or no later than early 1987, Owen solicited one super-8mm reel per person from filmmakers for every day of 1988. After he'd accumulated whatever was made for the project after 1988, these were then shown by Owen in multiple projector screenings - usually with one of the projectors on a Lazy Susan so that he could easily movie its projection path from side-to-side. Added to this, he'd mix taped sound. I remember him using a piece of mine that was a BBC SFX tape, modified with the assistance of John Berndt, of "Transitions & Cues". When Owen sent me the "Homeworks 1 (Pilot)" VHS that I've already uploaded he included this PSA (Public Service Announcement) that he'd made to air on Public Access Cable TV in an effort to reach out to more filmmakers. Along with the tape, he sent me news about the Almanac's progress. This included a reply he'd gotten from Kodak rejecting his request for fun…
