National Archives description: "On Army evacuating procedures in occupied France and Germany. Reel 1 shows rubble of a shelled town; scenes of civilian distress; and refugees following a garbage truck. On receiving evacuation orders from the military government, civilians leave their improvised dwellings, assemble, and are sprayed. Reel 2, an officer confers with local authorities, and evacuees report for identification and screening. The evacuees are transported by train, military vehicles, and wagons to the evacuation area. They are assigned to houses by a billeting officer; they eat at a community kitchen and receive medical care; and are later repatriated."
