BASE jumpers leap and freefall from structures high enough to quickly deploy a single Ram Air canopy parachute before landing. With altitudes not as high as those in skydiving, the equipment and technique has to be perfect, as a collision with the cliff face or structure while the jumper falls towards earth will be fatal. BASE jumping is concidered more dangerous than skydiving from aircraft and is known as one of the most extreme sports. In many countries it is also illegal, therefore has an underground following.
