A Joe E Brown baseball comedy that doesn't work as well as it should because instead of playing the usual loveable boob, in this one Brown is an obnoxious jerk. To call the plot farfetched is an extreme understatement. The good supporting cast includes a host of character actors who would go on to long Hollywood careers.
