Duo formed in 1920's from Elkmont,AL in impoverished area of lower Appalachian Mountains. Brothers Alton and Rabon Delmore were with "The Grand Old Opry" from 1932 until 1939 when a dispute with management led to their leaving the show. Shows are on Archive by an antique radio show group which has a more extensive biography. Alton was born in 1906 and died in 1964 in Huntsville AL. Rabon was born in 1916 and died in 1952 in Athens AL. Both played fiddles and guitars. They moved to Houston Tx in late 1940's but never again saw the popularity that they had on "The Grand Old Opry." After Rabon's death Alton moved to Huntsville AL where he taught music. The duo was elected to the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 1972.
