About this film

U.S. Army Air Forces Combat Subjects film #12: Native Dance, Island Of Lifu Near New Caledonia, For Admiral Halsey, General Harman [SIC] , and Governor Of New Caledonia. The unspecified Governor of New Caledonia at the time was Jacques Victor François Tallec. General Harmon is misspelled as Harman above in the title at the National Archives. General Millard Harmon was the Commanding General of U.S. Army Forces in the South Pacific Area (AAFPOA) during WWII and disappeared in a plane crash in April 1945. The National Archives description says it's silent but I cranked up the sound in the video file when I converted it, and viola! lovely South Pacific islander music. National Archives Identifier: 2918 As always, any error or typo is mine and if you enjoy my uploads or if you intend to make $ or otherwise profit from these files, please consider making a donation to a veteran's charity of your choice and/or Archive.org itself.
