A sprawling costume drama adapted from Hervey Allen's best-selling 1,200-page novel. An extravagant production with an outstanding cast and a memorable symphonic background score by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Soap opera on a grand scale, and one of the must-see films of the '30s. NOTE: A short subject on the making of this film is in the Short Format Film Collection (Shorts). The title is "The Making of a Great Motion Picture (Anthony Adverse)." CAST NOTE: Joan Woodbury never achieved A-feature stardom, but she did have a successful career in second features. She is here at IA in "King of the Zombies," "Rogues Tavern," "A Yank in Libya" and others.
