Synopsis A 1947 home movie by Lit. Col. Juan Vázquez about his domestic life with his children, Carmencita and Dennis, and his wife, Carmen Torres. There is documentation of Carmencita's birthday, with the cake and kids playing around. He also filmed her doing a flamenco performance. The film shows footage of different areas of Puerto Rico, from the colonial city of Old San Juan to the rural life in the mountains. It also shows brief footage of the family at a pool and several military men. The home movie was originally a film that was later transferred to Betacam. Collection description This film (Heydari_0009) is part of the collection Recovering American and Puerto Rican Narratives from the Caribbean . This media belongs mainly to the Vázquez family. Much of the footage was captured by Lt. Col. Juan Vázquez, and his family. He acquired movie and photo cameras during his military career and on the way to the Korean War, where he was a commander with the Korean Military Advisory Group (KMAG). He had also been with the decorated Borinqueneers (65 de Infantería) regiment, and then returned to Puerto Rico. His was one of the first citizen movie cameras on the island. Lt. Col. Vázquez…
