Series Description: THE SHADOW OF FU MANCHU presented, in serial form, the novels "The Insidious Fu Manchu", "The Hand of Fu Manchu", and "The Return of Fu Manchu". The three novels were dramatized in 39 15-minute episodes. "The Insidious Fu Manchu" was covered in 24 episodes, the bulk of series. "The Hand of Fu Manchu" took only 3 episodes while "The Return of Fu Manchu" to the remaining 12 episodes. The complete serial ran Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, for 13 weeks. Main members of the cast were Gale Gordon, Hanley Stafford and Gerald Mohr. More episodes were produced beyond the 39 mentioned above. It has been reported that the actual number of episodes is 156. A single episode, entitles "The Purple Spot" is in circulation that appears to match the opening chapter of "Fu Manchu's Bride", the sixth novel published. The 2 interviening novels are "The Daughter of Fu Manchu" and "The Mask of Fu Manchu". Perhaps these 2 novels are covered by the 116 episodes that are not currently in circulation.
