Sanderson, Joel - 100 Years Of College, 2021 re-edit
About this film
This is a restoration and re-edited version of my senior art school project created right before I graduated from The University of Kansas. I used an AI reprocessing software to improve the quality of a now quite old VHS tape from 1992. This re-edit cleans up some of the problems of the original along with adding some extended or outtake footage. (The video file for this post was updated to a newer version on 07/30/21, it features minor revisions meant to correct a few problems) Original liner notes: Borrowing the title from a classic novel, this is a video meditation about a student who spent far to long attending college before he finally graduated in 1992. This video was a senior project that was shot in Emporia, Lawrence, and Wichita, Kansas by Fred Gutknecht IV and Joel Sanderson. The video features interviews with Sanderson’s childhood friends, current friends, relatives, and even his parents to try to find the answers for his extended failure as a college student. Featured interviews with Charles H. Sanderson, Charla Sanderson, Ruth Sanderson, Don Wagner, Joni Wagner, Jeff Kilian, all who were told they could say anything they wanted about the student.
